Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 1988) is an American actress, singer and dancer. Her initial appearances on Broadway include the productions Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her role on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in a Play. Annaleigh, Tony Award-winning actress and director has spent most of her career working with prominent directors and actors in film and on television. Ashford will next be seen with Kumail Nannjiani on Robert Siegel's Hulu Limited series Welcome to Chippendales premiering November 22. Ashford currently works on Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust alongside Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film is scheduled to air on Disney DTC in the form of an Hulu Original. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford will return to Broadway and star opposite Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. This production will be directed by Thomas Kail and produced by Jeffrey Seller, the team that created Hamilton. Ashford was Paula Jones most recently in Ryan Murphy's FX's American Crime Story Impeachment, inspired by the scandal that was involving Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the nation crisis. Ashford appeared for two seasons on the CBS popular comedy B Positive. It was co-produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda Lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. The role she played as Essie on You Can't Take It with You was a winner of the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren In Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford splits her life between Los Angeles & New York. She was born in Denver and was raised in Denver.
